2026 Winter-Wear for Kids

Get ready for the 2026-2027 Winter Season with Basics for Local Kids! ❄️🧥

Starting October 1, 2026, our online sign-ups and appointment scheduling will officially go live right here! We look forward to kicking off our 17th season of keeping local kids warm, cozy, and ready for winter fun.

Basics for Local Kids offers winter outerwear for western Wisconsin children in need. Our inventory relies on donations, and while we strive to meet demands, availability of sizes will vary. (Clean out those closets and donate the unused winter-wear.) Available winter wear includes new and gently used coats, boots, snow pants, hats, mittens/gloves, scarves, and new socks.

        Kids that qualify:

  • Live in western Wisconsin

  • Age newborn through 18 years old

  • In need of winter-wear

Welcome to Basics for Local Kids! Since 2010, our charitable organization has been dedicated to helping local kids keep warm and active during chilly Wisconsin winters. We offer new and gently used winter-wear, including coats, snow pants, boots, hats, and gloves. Join in making a difference in our community and helping kids thrive regardless of weather!

Donate Winter Wear

Kids rely on your donation of new and gently used coats, snow pants, boots, and water-resistant gloves to help them stay warm and active this winter. All sizes needed from newborn through adult (for teens).

We have many drop off locations in Pierce & St. Croix counties. Donors in Pierce or St. Croix County can also request a doorstep pick up through the contact page. Please avoid items with rips, stains, or funky smells.
